About the project

Rose Cottage is a chocolate box pink cottage located in Cornwall. It looks like a child has drawn it, and for this reason, I instantly knew that I wanted to incorporate the magic of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ which is a gentle theme that runs throughout the cottage’s interior and exterior, with quotes from Alice on the walls, and bronze sculptures of Alice and the Madhatter in the gardens.

Rose Cottage was cold and damp when it was purchased in 2019 and it had to undergo extensive building work to remove the damp, rotten framework and woodworm that had overtaken the entire cottage. New electrics, new plumbing, new supporting structural work, new plastering and ceilings took months to implement with extensive planning permission, as its Grade II listed.

Once the cottage was dry and restored, the fun began with a bold and brave design scheme which threw the Cornish décor rule book out the window! Rose Cottage broke so many rules, including bespoke neon lights, that the cottage got a huge amount of attention and press calling it ‘ground-breaking’.

Rose Cottage has been featured in OK! Magazine calling it ‘The Cream of Cornwall’ and in The Sunday Express, described it as ‘Ocean Dreaming’. You can see Rose Cottage in numerous magazines and newspapers including S Magazine, Drift Cornwall, Notebook, OK! Mag, Living Magazine to name but a few.
